Part II: Salt Tectonics Interpretation Workshop associated with Salt

C) Pattern Recognition & Interpretation of Seismic Slice Data

C.5- Profile & Depth Slice Interpretation

A) Identification of Allochthonous Salt and Related Features

Instructions :

1- Interpret successive profiles for faults, salt, and salt welds ;

2 - Within the sedimentary packages, mark potential sequence boundaries by changes in sedimentation
focus (basin phases) or high amplitude condensed section reflections ;

3 - Using profiles for verification, interpret the sequence boundaries by changes in sedimentation
focus (basin phases) or high amplitude condensed section reflections ;

4 - Using slices, interpret the direction of salt flow, and identify any salt sutures.

Fig. 368- Notice that on this map of the base of the allochthonous salt, the blue colors are deepest and the red colours are shallow. Please propose tentative geological interpretations of following W-E seismic lines and time slices.
