On this plate, where are located the geographic basins studied in the Short-Course, it is easy to see the difference between sedimentary and geographic basins. The Neuquen geographic basin, for instance, correspond to the stacking of several sedimentary basins defined using the Bally & Snelson (1980) basin classification, which is based on the realm of subsidence of each basin.
