After falsifying the old conventional hypotheses proposed to explain the opening of Atlantic-Type Divergent Margins, we will propose a new hypothesis (Total's hypothesis) and we will test it with regional seismic lines from South and North Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Then, we will briefly discuss the particularities of Iberia and Newfoundland margins. In this web presentation, due to confidential reasons, several times, only the geological interpretations of the seismic lines are illustrated. However, if required, it will be a pleasure to discuss on the real data. For that, please contact us at carloscramez@gmail.com
